Cocoa production in times of climate crisis: An international conference on this topic will take place on 31 May and 1 June, organised by Schokoladenmuseum Köln, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and SÜDWIND e.V.-Institut.
Global climate change is already having a massive impact on cocoa production and will do so even more in the coming years. Due to their high vulnerability, millions of cocoa farmers' livelihoods are severely affected. In addition, the economies of entire countries where cocoa production dominates are coming under pressure. The ongoing deforestation and degradation of forests further exacerbates climate change.
The conference will address the challenges faced by farmers and countries in the cocoa sector as a result of climate change. The challenges as well as strategies and solutions will be discussed with various guests in lectures and panel discussions. Registrations are welcome until 12.5: Das Schokoladenmuseum Köln / internationale Konferenz.
