Online Seminar on Price formation on the futures market and the physical market for cocoa

GISCO invited Dr. Gunther Bensch and Kathrin Kästner from RWI – Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung and Laura Schmid from Jacobs University Bremen to present the results of their study "Price formation on the futures market and the physical market for cocoa” to GISCO members in two online seminars on June 14th and July 19th.

The online seminars offered participants the opportunity for an in-depth exchange with the researchers. The topic was in great demand and we were pleased to welcome around 70 participants. We were particularly honoured by the great interest shown by participants from Côte d'Ivoire. 

The aim of the study was to investigate the determinants of cocoa futures prices on the London Futures Exchange and of raw cocoa prices on the physical market in Côte d'Ivoire.
