New Cocoa household income study approach

Our members' project PRO-PLANTEURS is supporting the implementation of a study to measure the income of cocoa farming households using the new "Cocoa household income study" Approach in the Bossematié region and is working closely with all stakeholders involved.

Improving the income of cocoa farmers requires the joint efforts of all stakeholders in the value chain. Therefore, establishing a standardized approach to assess and compare the income of cocoa farm households is crucial to gain an accurate understanding of their economic situation. We support this initiative through our participation in th Alliance on Living Income in Cocoa (ALICO). You can download the new Cocoa Household Income Study (CHIS) approach at the bottom of this page. This report is funded by WCF and developed in collaboration with GIZ and SWISSCO.

PRO-PLANTEURS is a joint project of the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Conseil du Café-Cacao. PRO-PLANTEURS works with more than 30,000 cocoa families in Côte d'Ivoire to improve their incomes and professionalize the organizations to which they belong. The project works with farmers' organizations in the regions of Abengourou, Aboisso, Agboville, Yamoussoukro and Divo.
