GISCO event at the Anuga in Cologne

Today, the GISCO on-site event took place at the Anuga trade fair in Cologne!

Alex Assanvo, Secretary Executive of the Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana Cocoa Initiative, gave a keynote speech to introduce the topic and presented the perspective of the cocoa-producing countries. This was followed by input presentations from the ranks of GISCO’s member groups, which presented the conclusions from the EU Cocoa Talks and focused on how higher incomes for cocoa farmers and child labour free cocoa can be achieved. A concluding panel discussion offered the possibility to discuss, among other things, the role of political institutions both in Europe and in the producer countries and their future cooperation.

We are very happy about the contributions and a lively discussion with: Aminata Bamba (Ecookim), Aldo Cristiano (CAOBISCO), Zoé Druilhe (INTPA EU Commission), Julia Christian (Fern), Sebastian Lesch (Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)), Christian Mieles (Federal Association of the German Retail Grocery Trade (BVLH)), Harold Poelma (European Cocoa Association) and Matthias Lange (International Cocoa Initiative).
