German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa elects Merit Buama as Chairwoman of the Board of Directors

We congratulate Ms. Merit Buama on her election as the new Chairwoman of the Board of the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa!

In yesterday’s first meeting of the newly elected Board of Directors, Merit Buama was elected as the new Chairwoman of the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa.

Buama works as manager for cocoa programs worldwide at Alfred Ritter GmbH & Co. KG and has been supporting GISCO for many years. The newly elected Chairwoman sees her task primarily in shaping a consensus among the initiative’s members: "Whatever happens in GISCO is a joint project. It is therefore very important to keep the stakeholder groups in dialogue," says Buama. She also sees strengthening GISCO’s pioneering role in sustainable cocoa and maintaining credibility as core elements of the platform’s work.

Merit Buama succeeds long-time Chairman Wolf Kropp-Büttner who did not stand for re-election but will remain a member of GISCO. On behalf of the members we would like to thank Wolf Kropp-Büttner again for his many years of trustful cooperation and congratulate Merit Buama on her election as new Chairwoman. GISCO looks forward to tackling future challenges under new leadership!
