GISCO donates EUR 5000 for humanitarian purposes

The German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa (GISCO) is providing a financial contribution of EUR 5,000 to combat the coronavirus. GISCO, like some of its members, is thus joining the appeal for donations by the World Cocoa Foundation (WCF). In total, the WCF has already received a donation of USD 835,000 (EUR 773,000).

The financial support is intended primarily to benefit cocoa farmers in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. Through local humanitarian aid organisations, the funds will help to stem the further spread of the corona virus. The support operation initiated by the WCF will be carried out in close coordination with the governments and authorities of the respective countries.

GISCO is implementing its own project in Côte d'Ivoire. PRO-PLANTEURS reaches 20,000 cocoa farmers in the south-eastern cocoa growing regions of the country.
