First Joint Monitoring Round launched

We are pleased to launch the very first joint monitoring round with our Belgian partner initiative Beyond Chocolate.

In this first round, our members are invited to share their performance data from the reporting year 2020 regarding the four common challenges of the national platforms for sustainable cocoa in Europe, Beyond Chocolate, the Dutch Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa (DISCO), the Swiss Platform for Sustainable Cocoa and the German Initiative on Sustainable Cocoa (GISCO).

The four common challenges are:

  • To enhance the transparency in the cocoa value chain and promote the production and consumption of sustainable cocoa;
  • To contribute to a living income for cocoa farmers and their families;
  • To halt cocoa-related deforestation and promote sustainable reforestation and biodiversity in cocoa producing countries;
  • To end the worst forms of child labor and forced labor in the cocoa value chain.

The offices of the Sustainable Cocoa Forum and Beyond Chocolate would already like to thank all members who participate in the monitoring and contribute to the goal of achieving a sustainable and transparent cocoa sector.

More information on the cooperation of GISCO with the national platforms for sustainable cocoa in Europe can be found here in our new information brochure.
